Hey! I’m Jack.
I work in construction and I’ve always liked gadgets. But since I grew up before the whole internet thing I didn’t get the basic “training” all those young guys get these days. That sucked. Means I usually have to ask a geek friend or clever nephew how to best use my gadget. Sound familiar?
So when the iPad was launched I knew I wanted one. I went to the store a couple weeks after it was launched (yeah, when the shops actually had them in store again…) and got one. Went home, opened the box, got my iPad out. What a feeling to hold it! Like it comes natural right? Yeah, if only the manual – ANY manual – had come naturally as well.
I messed around on the iPad a bit and never really got the sense I was using it like it could be used. Like I was missing out on some features. Yeah well whose fault is that right? If Apple had sent a manual along that would have helped…!
Anyway, I went online to see if there was any help there. Of course there’s a ton of youtube videos. Nice and all but usually not exactly useful… The video is blurry or you just can’t find the feature the guy in the video is talking about. Got me frustrated. Heard a geek-friend of mine once say “never trust a computer you can’t throw out a window”. Let’s just say I got close to check out how well my iPad could fly…
Through a streak of good luck I bumped into this site by a guy who calls himself iPad Pete. Thought he was another scammy geek trying to get my money. But I checked his site and it all looked pretty OK. This guy helps you use your iPad you want to use it. Got his vids and went to watch a couple every day.
And man did that help! I found out all sorts of stuff I wanted to know: what apps are best, how to watch video AND get the right quality, how to mess around with the settings a bit. After a couple days I feel like a geek. Never thought I’d be…
Anyway, I set up this blog to share my experiences with the iPad video course. It helped me use my iPad and I’m sure it can do the same for you.
Good luck and have fun!
Jack
